and as enjoyable as possible. It is important to understand that all pets respond to grooming differently, even with the best efforts of our staff. We will make every effort to make it a positive experience.
Sometimes pre-exisiting conditions arise unforeseen by us, such as skin allergies, shampoo allergies, moles, clipper sensitivity, matting and tangles, fleas, fear and other behavior issues, bone or joint sensitivity, heart conditions, seizures, etc. It is helpful to us if you, as the pet's owner, inform us of anything that you are aware of prior to grooming.
A basic grooming will include shampooing and conditioning of the coat. The coat will be brushed and combed thoroughly to remove any knots, tangles, and dead undercoat. Nails will be clipped as short as possible. Ears will be cleaned with a professional medicated ear cleaner. Light trimming is included based on breed and owners' preference. A full grooming includes all of the aforementioned services, and a full body styling based on breed, owners' preference, and groomers discretion.
Matted coats and excessive undercoats cause a variety of health problems for your pet. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation

to the skin, causing hot spots, and bacterial and fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further skin infections. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on their mats. The skin underneath can become raw and inflamed.
We cannot brush out a coat that is already severely matted due to the stress and pain it will undoubtedly cause your pet. Therefore, severely matted coats will require a short clip. We may be able to remove excessive undercoat within reason and tolerance of your pet. We will be happy to show you how to care for your pet's coat for the future.
For the safety of your pet, and our staff, we require that your pet be up-to-date with his/her rabies vaccination! |
